The Sir James and Lady Peiris Cheshire Home held its annual Avurudu celebration on 5 April 2024, bringing residents, staff and supporters together to enjoy Sri Lankan New Year traditions, festive activities and community companionship.

The Sir James and Lady Peiris Cheshire Home celebrated its Annual Avurudu Ulela on 5 April 2024, bringing residents, staff and supporters together to welcome the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

The celebration created a joyful and inclusive atmosphere where residents could enjoy traditional customs, festive activities and meaningful time with the Cheshire Lanka community.

Celebrating Sri Lankan New Year traditions

Avurudu is an important cultural celebration in Sri Lanka, representing renewal, unity and togetherness. At Cheshire Lanka, the annual event gives residents an opportunity to participate in familiar traditions and enjoy the festive season in a supportive family environment.
